Portrait of Niki Lake as "Batty the Clown," with her sidekick "Ellie the Moth."

Park ranger Niki Lake poses as "Batty the Clown" alongside her friend "Ellie the Moth" in San Antonio at Camden Street Bridge and I-35 where a bachelor colony of Mexican free-tailed bats live under the bridge. In her spare time, Niki educates the general public about Mexican free-tails, handing out bat rings, and teaching kids the 'bat' hand shake. Together, Batty and Ellie educate children and adults about bat ecology and the positive impact of the Mexican free-tailed bats.
